Brisbane Marriott Hotel is a five-star hotel located in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, overlooking the Brisbane River and the iconic Story Bridge. Its central location, close to Queen Street Mall and Howard Smith Wharves, makes it a popular choice for both business and leisure guests.

The hotel offers elegant accommodation, relaxed dining at Motion Dining, and premium facilities including an outdoor pool, fitness centre, and event spaces. As part of the global Marriott brand, Brisbane Marriott Hotel is known for its classic style, warm service, and strong focus on guest experience, blending timeless luxury with modern comfort.

The Background

Brisbane Marriott Hotel has been a TUE client for over six years, and during this time we have built a strong working relationship with their team. We have supported them through different uniform updates, making sure their front-of-house and concierge teams always present a polished and professional look that reflects the high standards of the Marriott brand.

For this latest update, the hotel wanted a refresh rather than a full redesign. They were looking to keep their formal and conservative style but soften it slightly to feel more modern, lighter, and less corporate, while still maintaining the classic look their guests expect.

The Solution

Our focus was on keeping the uniform familiar while making small and thoughtful updates to improve both the look and the comfort. Rather than changing everything, we worked on modernizing the existing style so it felt lighter, more current, and easier to wear, without losing the professional image the hotel is known for.

A two-tone suiting look was introduced by pairing charcoal jackets with navy trousers and skirts. This combination helped soften the overall appearance and moved the uniform away from feeling too dark or heavy and too corporate. The signature Marriott maroon accent was kept as a trim detail, allowing the uniform to stay closely connected to the brand.

To further freshen the look, we introduced a soft, pale blue shirt and blouse. This colour feels classic and clean, works well throughout all seasons, and still looks polished when worn without a jacket.

For men, the uniform includes tailored trousers, a blue long sleeve shirt, and a tailored jacket with maroon trimming on the pockets. They also included a tailored vest with the same maroon trim, giving concierge and front-of-house staff a flexible option for warmer days, with the jacket worn during cooler weather.

For women, the uniform offers a choice between navy trousers or a navy skirt, paired with a round-neck, short-sleeve blouse. Removing the collar created a relaxed and comfortable look while keeping the overall professional design. A charcoal jacket with maroon trim on the pocket is worn over the blouse to complete the outfit.

Comfort was a key part of the design. Trousers and skirts were made using stretch fabrics with stretch waist, making them comfortable for long shifts. Jackets were created from a structured poly-wool blend, chosen to hold their shape while remaining easy to wear. Women’s jackets feature a crop, one-button style, while men’s jackets follow a classic two-button design.

The Final Outcome

The refreshed uniform delivers a look that feels clean, modern, and easy to wear, while still looking smart and professional. By softening the colour palette and introducing a two-tone suit combination, the uniform now feels lighter and more contemporary, without losing the classic Marriott style.

The added flexibility in layering allows staff to feel comfortable throughout the day and across different seasons. Whether worn with a jacket, vest, or simply a shirt or blouse, the uniform maintains a polished and consistent appearance. With a strong focus on comfort, movement, and practicality, the result supports staff in their roles while enhancing the overall front-of-house presentation and guest experience.
